Season Four: Improvisation, Reflection & Revision

All lessons support Kentucky and National Core Arts Standards in Dance, with an emphasis on the anchor standards Creating and Performing. Season Four focuses on Improvisation, Reflection, and Revision.

Creating: The following lessons support students exploring movement through improvisation, reflection, and revision.

 

Honey Dance (K-3):

Improvise dance moves inspired by different environments.

Mirroring:

Practice improvising and following a partner’s movements.

Honey Dance (4-5):

Improvise dance moves inspired by different environments & characters.

Flocking:

Practice improvising and following others’ movements in a group.

 

 

Performing: The following lessons model ways students can share what they’ve learned (in any subject!) through dance.

 

Guided Improv (K-3):

Improvise movement inspired by a prompt (elements of art).

Silly Dance Story (K-3):

Improvise movement inspired by an original story.

Guided Improv (4-5):

Improvise movement inspired by a prompt (principles of design).
